

Steven Michael Eakins, 34, of Bulverde, Texas, passed away on August 15, 2017 at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas with his parents by his side. He was born March 11, 1983 in Shaw AFB, South Carolina to Mark and Kelly (Wallace) Eakins. Being an Air Force "Brat," he attended schools in multiple states and countries, graduating from Abundant Life School in Sherwood, Arkansas in 2001. Soon after graduation he fulfilled a lifelong dream of serving and defending his country by joining the United Stages Air Force. His career in the Air Force was cut short when he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury due to an automobile accident in San Angelo, Texas while serving at Goodfellow AFB.
Steven is survived by his children Sienna and Asher of San Antonio, Texas, his parents Mark and Kelly Eakins, his sister Sarah (Eakins) and her husband Garrett Owens of Allen, Texas, his nieces and nephews Emily, Caleb, and Jacob, his maternal grandparents Frank and Mozelle (Adams) Wallace of San Antonio, Texas, his paternal grandparents Everett and his wife Chery Eakins of Hahira, Georgia, and Carol Kimbrough of Alligator Point, Florida. He is also survived by 9 Aunts and Uncles as well as 45 cousins. It is a good thing family was so important to Steven because he had a very large one.
Whomever had the pleasure of meeting Steven loved him He never met a stranger and would do anything within his power to help anyone in need. He never held a grudge and would say life is too short for that. he had a passion to serve the Lord, love his family, be caring and compassionate and to serve his country. He had an infectious smile and a zeal for life enjoying all water activities - sport or leisure, racing, fishing, hunting, disc golf, music, camping, working on cars, and playing football and basketball. Steven lived life to the fullest with a joyful heart, taking every opportunity that came his way.
Family and friends may call, Monday, September 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. A service celebrating his life will be Tuesday, September 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset North with a procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for a Military Honors presentation.
