

Steve graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1970 and the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 with a degree in Business.
Steve grew up working in the Produce Market Terminal as a 3rd generation owner of California Fruit Company which was started by his Grandfather and has served the San Antonio and surrounding areas since 1916.
Steve had a strong commitment and love for Judaism and was a life-long member of Congregation Agudas Achim and a member of Congregation Rodfei Sholom. He served on numerous boards and held offices throughout the San Antonio Jewish and business communities.
Steve not only gave his time but also his resources to so many in need as illustrated by his generous gifts of produce weekly to the Intrepid Center for wounded soldiers at BAMC.
Steve was a passionate and avid sports fan who enjoyed following all teams.
Steve was a warm, fair and generous man who was truly loved by everyone who knew him. He defined the word "Mensch". He was a dedicated and loving husband and father.
He is preceded in death by his father Jake Gossen.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Helena (Lala) Reif Gossen; and daughters, Emily and Eleanor Gossen; mother Pearl Gossen; sister, Faye Tawil and husband, Aaron Tawil; brother, Dr. Gary Gossen and wife, Fonda; sister, Mindy Eisen and husband Jay Eisen of Beaumont, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Interment in Agudas Achim Memorial Gardens on Austin Highway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Congregation Rodfei Sholom, Congregation Agudas Achim, Eleanor Kolitz Academy Jewish Day School of San Antonio or to a charity of choice.
