Stuart Alonzo Bergman Jr., MD, Age 71, of Austin, Texas died Tuesday, April 12th. Lon was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 7, 1939. He earned his MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 1969 and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas Graduate School Biomedical Sciences in 1975. Lon went on to practice medicine for over 30 years in both public and private sectors. He was very proud of his work with NASA where he contributed the Apollo, Skylab, and Space Shuttle programs. Lon was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Ida Bolieu-Bergman and his wife, Nancy Middleton-Bergman. He is survived by his stepmother, Grace Bergman; sister Bernice Kendrick; brother Fred Bergman; son Anthony and his wife Beth; son Aaron and his wife Karyn and his grandchildren, Emma, Marshall, Isabelle and Lynnea. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 15th at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Medina Children's Home.
