Susan Campbell Conly

Susan Campbell Conly, age 67, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Susan was born on June 19, 1955 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Reita Garraghty Campbell and Sidney Iredell Campbell.

Susan graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1973. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in journalism in 1977. Susan also graduated with a degree in interior design from the University of Incarnate Word in 1990 in San Antonio, Texas.

Susan’s career began with Mann Media’s WGLD-FM Radio in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was an instrumental and highly awarded contributor with the advertising sales team, covering radio advertising sales in the Triad area, which consists of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point.

Susan, at the age of 30, met the love of her life, John Michael Conly, in 1985 at a charity golf tournament in Greensboro. Michael Conly instantly fell in love. Susan and Michael proceeded to date for the next 6 years. While dating, Susan and Michael traveled the nation and the globe representing CBS Broadcasting, Harte Hanks, WFMY-TV in Greensboro, and Kens 5 in San Antonio, Texas. Susan and Michael made wonderful memories together through their travels to places such as Japan, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, and New York City to name only a few.

Susan and Michael made San Antonio, Texas their home in 1988. They were married on December 15th, 1991. Susan worked and excelled in interior design with Derrick Dodge Interior Design in San Antonio until the birth of her son, Harrison, in February 1996.

After the birth of her child, Susan embraced the role of motherhood, putting all her joyous love and energy into raising her son. Susan and Michael, driven by their never-ending love for the son they so wanted, made raising their child their lives’ priority. As a family, Susan and Michael sought to encourage their son to have a wide perspective of the world through education, travel, and sports.

Later, Susan would take on the extended role of caregiver for her beloved husband Michael until his passing in October of 2022. Throughout her time as a wife and mother, Susan loved her family unrelentingly and gave of herself each and every day. Susan will be remembered for her irresistible smile, endearing personality, captivating beauty, and compassionate heart.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John Michael Conly and her father, Sidney Iredell Campbell. Susan is survived by her son, Harrison Conly; mother, Reita Garraghty Campbell; brother, Sidney Garrett Campbell. She’s survived by her nephew, Patrick Campbell; aunt, Margo Wyatt; cousin, Catherine Campbell Harrill; as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, located at 6904 West Ave, San Antonio, TX 78213, on June 19, at 1:00 PM. Fr. Ram Lopez will officiate.
