Susan grew up in Houston and attended St. Anne Catholic School, Lamar High School, and attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. In 1978, she married Hal Hunsaker, and together they built a life filled with friendship, travel, and cherished memories.
Known for her generous personality and her remarkable ability to talk to—and sell anything to—anyone, Susan enjoyed a successful career with Johnson & Johnson in medical sales. She had a gift for connecting with people and left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Susan was an animal lover throughout her life. She loved horses in her youth, and a clipping from the gossip section of the Houston Post in 1959 noted: “Aboard that horse going 50 MPH down Westheimer Friday was 13-year-old Susan Saul!” But she had a special affection for dogs of all kinds and especially Westies.
In retirement, Susan and Hal traveled across the country in their Newell Coach, making wonderful friends and treasured memories along the way. Later in life, they settled in San Antonio but beat the heat by spending summers in Charlevoix, Michigan.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hal Hunsaker, and her son Rob Hunsaker. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Hunsaker Carter; son-in-law, Steve Carter; granddaughters, Madelyn (Michael) Stanley of Dallas and Claire (Brendan) Voss of Arlington; great-granddaughter, Mia Stanley; sister and brother-in-law, Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence, sister-in-law, Frances Patton; her caregivers Natalie Escobedo, Angel Medina, Karen Ortiz, Jennifer Cisneros and Leslie Cisneros; her many nieces, nephews, family members, and her beloved dog, Harper.
A family visitation is to immediately follow the service.
