Born on September 10, 1949, at the Naval Hospital on Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, to AKCM Joseph Earl Yarborough, Sr., USN (Ret.), and Agnes Freeman Yarborough, she grew up in a Navy Family with her four brothers and sisters, always on the move. After meeting the love of her life, Samuel Preston Reynolds, at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, they married on August 14, 1968, in Norfolk, Virginia, beginning a 57-year love story marked by devotion, partnership, and commitment.
She poured her heart into her family. As a wife, she was steadfast and loving. As a sister, she loved her siblings unwaveringly. As a mother to her only child, Jeff, she was guiding, supportive, and immeasurably proud. As a Grammy, she found her greatest joy in celebrating her grandchildren’s milestones, sharing stories, and being present in their lives.
Her home was filled with warmth, hospitality, and love. She delighted in cooking, gardening, antiquing, curating her collections, reading, exploring new places, trying new things, and most of all, spending time with her close friends and family. Those who knew her will remember her for her kindness, gentle humor, and for turning everyday moments into cherished memories.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Samuel Preston Reynolds; her son, CDR Jeffrey Michael Reynolds, USN (Ret.), his wife Leighanne; her cherished grandchildren, Cassidy, Preston, and Avery; and her brother, CAPT Joseph Earl Yarborough, Jr., USN (Ret.).
Her life was a testament to enduring love, family, and faith. She will be deeply missed and remembered.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
