
Sylvia Ann Cueva, a cherished lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on October 8, 1936, in San Antonio to Grace Perez and Samuel De La Rosa. Sylvia was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Sylvia’s life was centered around her loved ones. Her home was always filled with comfort, laughter, and togetherness-a true gathering place for all who knew her. She was an active member of St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, where she participated in parish activities for several years, and found joy and community in the Hidden Forest Garden Club. Sylvia’s adventurous spirit led her to travel the world, and she dedicated over 20 years of service as a civil servant, making a lasting impact through her work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Noe Cueva, her brother Samuel De La Rosa, and her cherished son David Anthony Cueva.
Sylvia is survived by her loving sons, Samuel Joseph Cueva and James Andrew Cueva (JoAnn); her treasured grandchildren, Christopher Aaron Cueva, Austin James Cueva, Chloe Elizabeth Cueva, Cole Noah Cueva, and Caroline Olivia Cueva; as well as many dear friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13th, at 11:30am at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
Sylvia’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.
