Sylvia Sue (Russ) Wilkinson was born November 18, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas toDaniel and Polly Russ. She attended school in Happy, then in Stinnett, Texas whereshe was a twirler in the Stinnett Rattler Band. She attended First Baptist Church of Stinnett where she achievedthe honor of "Queen with a Scepter" in the Girl's Auxiliary. After her family moved to Abilene, Texas, Suebecame a twirler for the Abilene High Eagle Band. Upon graduation from Abilene High School, she attendedTexas Woman's University in Denton and received a B.S. degree in Home Economics in 1968, then received anRE Library Science in 2002. She was also named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities andwas a member of Philomathia literary social club.
During the summer of 1968 she worked in Yellowstone National Park for the Hamilton Stores in Fishing BridgeVillage. Sue began her teaching career in the fall of 1968, in Plano, Texas where she taught Home Economics atPlano High School. Sue married Lt Thomas Paul Wilkinson, Jr. on June 28, 1969, in Abilene, Texas. Theircareer assignments took them to South Dakota, California, Alabama, Nebraska, and North Dakota then finallyFort Worth, Texas where Sue became librarian for FWISD until retirement in 2004. In December 2010, Sue andPaul moved to Blue Skies of Texas. They became members of First Baptist Church, San Antonio and then laterAir Force Village I Protestant Chapel. Sue and Paul traveled the world extensively and enjoyed experiencingthe culture, art, customs, food, and beauty of the many destinations they visited.
Sue walked in sunshine wherever she went. She loved to decorate anything and everything, but she especiallyloved to create elaborate table settings, and to prepare her own recipes to serve her guests. She was especiallygifted in accessorizing her apparel with beautiful hats which she wore with a unique flair. She loved people andloved to hear the story of every person she encountered. She went out of her way to befriend and enrich thelives of everyone she met with the «joie de vivre" (joy of life) that surrounded her. Her greatest accessory washer smile.
Sue is survived by Thomas Paul Wilkinson Jr., her husband of over 53 years, their daughters; Heather LynMyers, and her husband Ed, and Tiffany Paige Hayes and her husband Chris. Sue is survived by 3grandchildren: Gabrielle Rochelle Myers, Paul LeRoy Myers, and Sarah-Anne Michelle Myers. Also survivingher is her sister Pamela Russ Paddock and sister-in-law Glenda Wilkinson McCormack, and sister-cousinBarbara Whorton-Farley. Sue has two living Aunts, numerous cousins and is survived by 2 nephews, 1 niece andnumerous friends.
Per her wishes a Graveside Service will be held privately.
