She was born on the family farm June 24, 1946 in Henderson County, Kentucky to the late Thelma Lucille and Prentice Tapp.
Her mother died at an early age and she was raised by her father and step-mother, the late Catherine Betts Tapp.
She earned a BA in education from the University of Kentucky in 1968. After moving to Houston in 1970, she became a lifelong educator teaching in the Houston I.S.D. and North Hampton Elementary in the Klein I.S.D.
At the time of her death she was an eigth grade teacher at Albright Middle School in the Alief I.S.D.
She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond Texas.
Her brother R. C. Tapp preceded her in death in 1971.
Survivors include her daughter, care taker, the joy of her life, Sakkara Stanly Biggs and husband Barry Biggs, sister Gale Owens and husband Brownie, nephews Carlyle Owens and wife Gwen, Jonathan Owens and wife Jennifer and niece Cathy Owens Hallman and husband Richard.
