It is with great sadness that the Coulthurst family announces the tragic death of their wonderful human being, Taylor Neil Coulthurst, JD, 40 years old, of San Antonio, TX. Taylor, or Taytay as his sister and some friends affectionately called him, walked this world with kindness, innocence, sense of adventure and humor. He was a natural entertainer, who lit up a room with his spontaneous accents, impressions, and karaoke. He was also known for his intellectual prowess, so much so his father and sister joked about needing a dictionary to understand him. He was his mother's "Sonshine."
Our Taytay had unfinished business. He was passionate about law and was excelling in his new job at Oracle. He felt deeply for and loved his girlfriend and soulmate, Amanda Elise Lipsitt. He loved the time he spent with her and her beloved family. They had dreams of getting married and talked about what a great father he'd be some day. Taylor loved being an uncle and recently spent time playing with his nephews one last time over a Mouse Trap board game he brought as a surprise gift. He struggled putting the pieces together with his nephew, but all the while making sure he was being fun. He always greeted his nephews with a "hey buddy!"
Taylor is preceded in death by his grandma, Ora Belle Taylor; grandpa, L.B. "Zeke" Taylor; grandma, Flora Orkibi; and grandpa, George Stuart Coulthurst.
Taytay is survived and grieved by his mother, Patricia Lynn Walker Truss of San Antonio; father, Neil Stuart Coulthurst of Rio Rancho, NM; his beloved sister, Jennifer Neely Coulthurst Salazar; brother-in-law, Michael Salazar; his two nephews, Zeke and Max of Pflugerville, TX; aunt, Victoria and uncle Robert Land of Duncanville, TX; additional survivors include stepfather, Hubert Truss; stepbrothers, William and Renn Truss; and sisters-in-law, Kristy Truss and Jennifer Truss. Taylor is survived by his beautiful step nieces and nephews, Avery, Owen, Kaden, Kaylee, and Kaci. Taylor so loved and enjoyed the island life they and his stepfather gave him. As well, he is survived by his "Immortal Beloved," Amanda Elise Lipsitt. Taylor was a "cat dad" and cared deeply for his two "boys," Miles and Zeus.
Taylor has aunts, uncles and cousins in England, Australia and Israel and valued them from afar and the culture his father imparted to him. Taylor has many friends and people he made an impression on; some from childhood and some new. We thank you, friends, for being there for Taylor during all the seasons of his life.
Now, as we enter the season of grief and say goodbye to Taylor, we honor his love of poetry by sharing a poem. (Though let it be noted, Taylor would be disappointed that his sister used Google and didn't know one by heart.)
"Miss Me But Let Me Go"
By an Unknown Author
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little – but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this journey that we all must take
And each must go alone;
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go."
Memorial Visitation for Taylor will be on Saturday May 18th, 2019 from 1pm-4pm. We will share stories, grieve and help each other cope with this tremendous loss.
In lieu of flowers, Taylor would be so pleased to have donations made to an animal charity or your favorite charity in his honor.
