Ted S. Zajac, age 89 of San Antonio, Texas was called to the Lord on September 22, 2005. Born March 30, 1916, raised and educated in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was a graduate of Edison High School and a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS 1939 and MS 1940 degrees in Chemical Engineering and was a member of Sigma XI Scientific Research Society. He joined Shell Oil Co. Production Dept. October 1940.
He took a leave to serve his country from October 1942 until December 1945 in the U.S. Army Air Corps Training Command B-29 operations. He rejoined Shell January 1946 and retired in July 1984 with 43 1/2 years of service. His career included assignments in Engineering Operations, Management and Natural Gas Sales in Houston TX, New York City, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Denver CO, Los Angeles CA, and New Orleans LA. After retirement, he was a Natural Gas Consultant for 2 years.
He held memberships and offices in the National Assn. of Corrosion Engineers, American Petroleum Institute, California Natural Gas Assn., Canadian Petroleum Assn., American Gas Assn., Past President of Gas Processors Assn., Natural Gas-Men of Houston and New Orleans, and Petroleum Clubs of Resident Cities. Ted was an active member of St. George Episcopal Church, San Antonio.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Steil Zajac; daughter, Leslie Ann and son-in-law, Michael Lee and grandchildren Nicholas Andrew and Allison Faye Zajac-Batell of St Petersburg Florida; also, son, Robert Alan; daughter-in-law, Chaula and grandchildren Jennifer Leigh, Daniel Bryce, and Marissa May Zajac of San Antonio; a brother; Fredrick Delano Zajac of Columbia Heights, MN, numerous nieces and nephews and his caregivers Clara Aguilar and Ada Espinoza.
