Teresa was born November 8, 1960, at Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, TX, to James and Elisa Langan. She was the fifth of eight children. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Jr. Teresa graduated in 1978 from Abilene High School where she was a cheerleader, member of the first women’s cross-country team, and senior class favorite. She then graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. At Abilene Christian she met her husband of 42 years, Paul Smith, whom she married in 1983.
Teresa had a one in a billion personality. Funny, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, life of the party, quick witted, socially energetic, undauntedly optimistic, fearless and loud, but also compassionate and loving to anyone she encountered.
Teresa was a PE teacher and coach at Jefferson Middle School in Abilene but paused her career to raise her family and allow Paul to advance his career. Over time she returned to the workplace as a substitute teacher and high school basketball bookkeeper. She was a long-time member of the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio and loved the church’s ladies Bible classes and Christian sisters she befriended.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Matt and wife, Kelsi of Argyle; son, Drew of Greenville; and her beloved grandsons, Jackson and Jett. She is also survived by her stepmother, Georgia Langan of Roanoke; sister, Mary Andrews and husband Jeff of Lubbock; sister, Kathy Cavasos and husband Jesse of Lubbock; brother, Marvin Langan and wife Jaymie of Del City OK; sister, Tina Hirtzel and husband Dan of Tucson AZ; brother, Mike Langan and wife Deb of Katy; brother, John Langan and wife Annie of Bartlett TN; stepbrother, Jerry Simpson and wife Sherri of Roanoke; and stepbrother, Keith Simpson and wife Conni of The Woodlands.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
