Born on October 24, 1955, in Northampton, England, to Chuck and Janet Shaver, Terry was an active, clever and inquisitive little boy who grew into an athletic, brilliant and curious young man who loved playing and watching basketball (Go Spurs!) was a voracious reader, world traveler, fabulous photographer, student of history, lover of golden retrievers, and a fiercely proud Fighting Texas Aggie, class of 1978. While Terry had a 20-year career in insurance and risk management, his LinkedIn profile lists him as a survivor of leukemia and spinal cord injury. But that certainly didnt define him. Terrys life was defined by his deep and abiding faith in Jesus, his perseverance, determination and generous spirit, his positive attitude (as evidenced by an ever-present smile), and his unconditional love of his family.
Left to mourn his passing are his beloved mother, Janet Shaver; devoted sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Shaver, Lynda and Ollie Sandlin; the lights of his life niece Maddie and nephew Charles Sandlin; uncle and aunt Jack and Barbara Shaver, uncle and aunt Barry and Janis Pilgrim; cousins Kathy Shearer, Kim and Rex Downing, Lisa Shaver, Stuart and Stef Pilgrim, Carrie and Simon Townsend; his beloved dog, Bonnie; and numerous other relations.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles "Chuck" Shaver, his aunt Patricia Pilgrim, cousin Janna Shaver, and uncle and aunt Walt and Donna Shearer.
A special thanks to Jose De Robles for his friendship and care these past few years and to Selina Morgan, dear friend and physical therapist extraordinaire.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Trinity Baptist Church.
