Thelma R. Avila

Thelma R. Avila, age 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Thelma was born in Edinburg, Texas on July 27, 1945 to Tadeo Reyna Sr., and Amelia Gonzalez Reyna. Thelma was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Helotes, Texas. She enjoyed playing spider solitaire on her iPad, traveling, shopping, casinos and watching her grandson play sports. Thelma loved her animals which included three beloved dogs Corazon, Kiki, and Oreo, and one cat, Pickles. Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Cesario Avila Jr., and her parents. She is survived by her son, Cesario Avila III; daughter, Theresa Avila; Grandson Diego Avila; and three brother; Tadeo Reyna Jr., David Reyna, and Daniel Reyna. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, Texas. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
