The Lord called for Theresa Marie "Teddy" Olivarez, on December 16, 2011, at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Born on March 28, 1943 and at the age of 68 years old, she was greeted in heaven by her parents, Oscar Salazar and Delia Escobar, her grandparents Federico and Mary B. Meza, Anita Salazar, and her in-laws Nicanor and Domitilla Olivarez. Teddy graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education from the former Texas A&I Kingsville in 1968. She started a teaching career at Lexington Elementary School in the CCISD that same year. After serving 20 years, she retired in 1988 from Judson Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. Three years prior to her retirement, she was honored by her peers as "Teacher of the Year," She touched many lives as an educator as her peers and former students kept in touch with her throughout her life. Teddy was fun, jovial, and spirited. In her lifetime, she enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, going to casinos, and leaves us with amazing memories of the many family vacations she planned. She delighted in taking her children and grandchildren on grand vacations and cruises. She spent her entire life passing on high expectations, morals, values, and love to her family. Her strength, courage, unwavering honesty and above all, keen sense of humor were what she was known most for. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Charles A. Olivarez, daughters Kathy E. Britt (Robert), and Patti M. Annunzio (Bill ), son Coby Olivarez, and the grandchildren she adored, Ashley Mercer (Ryan), Tyler Wyrick, Jacob Britt, John Camron Olivarez, and great granddaughter Madison J. Mercer. She is also survived by her three loving sisters, Sandra Serrano (Butch), Cynthia Andrade (Eli), and Mary Priscilla Espinosa. Carrying her to her resting place will be: Coby Olivarez, Tyler Wyrick, Jacob Britt, John Camron Olivarez, Robert Britt, Bill Annunzio, and Ryan Mercer.
"What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us."
