Theresa Marie Pacheco Wittig, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the home she created and shared with her devoted husband of 41 years in San Antonio, Texas. She was profoundly loved by her entire family, including her husband, Evan Wittig; children, Evan Ross, Anthony and Jessica; their spouses, whom she loved as her own children, Rosa, Angel and Michael; and her four treasured grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, Annemarie Grace, Henry Manuel and Amelia Beatrix.
Theresa was born April 4, 1953 in Springer, New Mexico, as the seventh child among twelve, to her late parents Manuel and Mary Elizabeth Lopez Pacheco. She was a quiet, caring middle child among her siblings - Manuel, Margaret, John, Bob, Julia, Olivia, Bernadette (who has preceded her in death), Anna, Rita, Mario, Christopher.
Theresa moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend Incarnate Word College and Nursing School. She graduated in 1975 and went on to lead a life devoted to helping others as a nurse for the next 44 years of her life - 21 years within Santa Rosa Hospital followed by 23 years working in insurance with the Mail Handlers Benefit Group. Theresa was able to retire in 2019 and spend her remaining years with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to the love she gave and received from family and coworkers, Theresa shared her faith with the ACTS communities at St. John the Evangelist and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was also highly active with the Love Strong movement at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was well loved by all who worked with her and knew her.
As a wife, a mother, sister, aunt, Nana and friend, Theresa touched people with her sincere smile and her warm, generous hugs. She had a kind and gentle spirit with a strong love for God, her husband and family. Her faith and her quiet strength will be remembered by all. She was a loyal friend and a true "angel on earth," who is now in Heaven, and will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to gather for her services:
