

He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Carolyn Allen, and brother EC and sister Terry Lee.
He is survived by his sons Christofer (Jennifer) Allen, Travis Allen and Joel Benavidez of San Antonio; sisters Lisa and Laurie Allen of Tucson, Arizona, Faye Reamore of Geneseo, New York, and his exchange student sister Martha (Alberto) Leal de Guizar of Conkal, Mexico; nephew Nol Allen and niece Novie Allen of San Antonio, nephew Tim (Anne) Field of Lakeville, New York, niece Kelly (Marie) Field-Pursel of LeRoy, New York, and nephew Kurt (Debbie) LaDue of Springwater, New York; and his beloved grandchildren Jabin, Mila, Nero, Katana, Julian, Izabella, Zechariah, and Hilaria.
Born in Rochester, New York, September 8th, 1953, Thom grew up in Lakeville (Livonia), New York. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was a foreign exchange student to Colombia in 1970, igniting his love of Hispanic culture and the Spanish language. He graduated from Livonia Central School and attended the State University of New York at Geneseo, before marrying and moving to San Antonio, Texas.
Thom became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and spent his career working in hospitals, nursing homes, and private practice in the San Antonio area, also becoming a dialysis technician/instructor and a certified hypnotherapist as well as a life coach.
Music was an essential part of Thom’s life, and he taught himself to play the guitar, piano, drums, and other instruments over the years. He played in many different bands in New York and San Antonio, gaining many lifelong friends along the way. He also taught guitar and volunteered in music programs for children in San Antonio.
He was a devoted member of Unity Church of Boerne, and loved his church family, volunteering much of his time to church projects and providing musical support.
Calling hours/visitation will be from 5:00pm to 6:30pm with a service/remembrance immediately following on Friday, September 5th at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 Loop 1604 E., San Antonio. A Celebration of Life will also be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 6th at Unity Church of Boerne, 121 Scenic Loop Road, Boerne.
