Born in Yonkers, NY on August 20, 1947, he was the youngest child and only son of E. Paul and Elizabeth Boynton who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his infant son Seth Aaron, grandson Justin Hepworth, and son-in-law Roger Hepworth.
Tom married his college sweetheart, Kathy in 1969 shortly after signing a commission in the United States Air Force. He served 20 years in the Air Force and retired in 1989, at which time he began teaching at Texas Lutheran College and then at Concordia Lutheran College, where he taught math and computer science. He then became a software engineer for KCI in San Antonio, TX. During his time there he was instrumental in developing and designing multiple types of high tech medical equipment that are still in use in hospitals today, and have saved thousands of lives.
However, the thing that Tom was always most passionate about was sharing the gospel. It was his desire to never pass up an opportunity to share the love of his savior with every person he met. If you knew Tom, or even if you just met him, he would always share the gospel, often in the form of a tract, many of which he wrote himself as articles for the Karnes Countywide. He was active in Grace Community Church in San Antonio, TX. He lived his life to honor God, and he touched more lives than he probably ever even realized.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy; his sons Jeremy (and wife Jennifer), PJ (and wife Amy), and Nathan (and wife Missy); daughters Marie Hepworth (widow), and Lydia Wiatrek (and husband David); 32 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Jean Boynton and Loxia Hipsky, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
