Thomas Vickery Crea was born in Fargo, North Dakota March 25, 1920 and moved to San Antonio, Texas as an infant. He resided here until his peaceful passing at home on March 24, 2011, just one day shy of his 91st Birthday.
He was preceded in death and is rejoicing in heaven with his Mother, Myra Louise Crea; Father Terret Cecil Crea; beloved Brothers Robert D. Crea and John Pomroy "Jack" Crea; his adored wife Barbara Dawn Massey Crea and a host of wonderful, life-long friends.
He is survived and will be missed daily by his loving daughter, Cary and her family Parker, Hattie and Savannah; sister Priscilla Goldsmith; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Massey, Carolyn "Ditty" Kindervater, Marilyn Massey Walker and Helen Crea. "Uncle Tommy" was admired and loved by his many surviving nieces and nephews across the State of Texas and the U.S.
An avid farmer and rancher, Tommy was a true Texas Gentleman. He loved the land, animals and people he encountered on a daily basis.
His sport was polo, which he played actively for over 50 years of his life. He founded the San Antonio Polo Club and was an active member of the United States Polo Association for decades. The sport of polo allowed Tommy to travel many places where he made friends for life.
He owned and operated Crea Brothers Construction Company, founded in 1947 with his brother Jack, until his death.
The family would like to send our blessings and gratitude to his long time, faithful employees Ted Cantu, Sam Rust, Thelma Ramsey, and Teresa Zuniga.
Working was his life and what kept him so healthy to the very end, a wonderful example for those he left behind.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 12: 00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church.
