Thomas "Vince" Vincent Gay

Thomas Vincent Gay, beloved husband and known to friends and family as “Vince”, passed away on May 25, with his wife at his side. He was born in 1953, to the late Thomas Malcome Gay and Val Jean Schmidt.

Vince enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid music lover from classical to jazz, read mysteries and Shakespeare, and viewed our celestial heavens. He worked in various areas throughout his life, including oil fields and hazardous chemical inspector; he managed a research lab in the area of biological sciences, and IT server support.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Malcome Gay.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie; daughter, Kimberly; step-daughter, Gabrielle and husband Eric Puckett; his mother, Val Jean; his brother, Mark; daughter, Lauren Geiger; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services are private.

Biography

T. Vincent Gay was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. To the family and his friends, he was known as Vince and will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

He was the son of Thomas Malcome Gay and Val Jean Schmidt. He had one brother, Mark.

Vince went to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and was studying pre-med but changed to pursue a degree in microbiology at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). While at UTSA he managed a microbiology research laboratory. He received his certification as a Microsoft Engineer and later worked for Dell, Inc.

Vince was blessed to have four grandchildren, Auralynn, Calista, Castiel (Logan), and Madison. All very special and talented grandchildren that loved their pa paw very much.

Vince enjoyed time away on vacations with the family. Some of the favorite places was the coastal region, West Texas mountains and New Mexico, river tubing down the Guadeloupe River and the Frio River. Stargazing was a favorite past-time as well.

Vince passed away on May 25, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas with his wife by his side, losing his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Laurie, daughter Kimberly, step-daughter Gabrielle and husband Eric Puckett, brother Mark, and four grandchildren.

Vince was a good person, and kind soul. He will be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Vince leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember him.
