Thomas Gregory "Greg" Lawson was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on November 26th, 1954, to Mary Ann and Everett Lawson. Greg attended Lawton High School and later graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to build a career that spanned many industries including Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Heavy Equipment, and Aviation as a design engineer before transitioning to his true passion in the commercial construction industry, where he rose from project manager to Chief Estimator.
Greg was extremely outgoing, generous, and good-humored to his core, with a natural gift for making everyone around him feel welcome. He found joy in life's simpler pleasures and never needed much more than that. He was a devoted father, dedicated to his children. In addition to spending quality time with his sons and beloved dogs Sandie and Rosie-Rose, Greg was a passionate Oklahoma Sooners and Spurs fan who loved catching a game and sharing an occasional brewski with friends at his local pub. Greg was a true people person — if you ever found yourself at Make My Day Lounge or Main St. Bar, chances are you were listening to Greg's playlist on the juke box, everything from country to Motown.
Greg is survived by his son Shane Lawson and partner Brittney Perez, his brother Don Lawson, niece Ashley Tucker and husband Michael Tucker, niece Britni Burrough and husband Andy Burrough, great-niece Charlie Burrough, great-nephew Leighton Burrough, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Greg was predeceased by his son Colby Lawson, his mother Mary Ann Lawson, his father Everett Lawson, his sister-in-law Nancy Lawson, and his former wife Becky Landry.
Tremendous and heartfelt thanks go to the truly exceptional nurses at North Central Baptist Hospital, who gave Greg far more than nursing care, surrounding him with peace and compassion when it mattered most.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas.
