Tom was born in Oklahoma City in 1939 to parents Lucille and Clarence Kingery. He attended Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and played varsity basketball. During the summers, Tom worked on his grandfather’s farm harvesting wheat. The farm was originally settled during the Oklahoma Land Rush.
Tom continued his education at the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a BBA in Accounting and Business Law. While at O.U., Tom pledged Delta Tau Delta where he made lasting friendships. Tom also met and married Brenda Smith during their sophomore year.
After graduation, Tom, Brenda, and son Don traveled to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas where Tom became a career Air Force officer. Tom trained in T-38’s. Their daughter Karyn Lynn was born while they were in Del Rio in 1962.
During 24 years as a pilot, Tom flew F-4’s, F-102’s, and F-15’s. Tom served tours in Viet Nam, Washington, D.C., Okinawa, and many times in Texas.
After retirement from the Air Force, Tom continued his career in biomedics working for Calspan Corporation in Buffalo, New York, BDM International, and Systems Research Laboratories as Regional Director.

Tom loved graduations at the Institute of American Indians in Arts and Culture (IAIA) where Brenda served as a trustee.
During the last three years, Tom was so grateful for the friends in his Men’s Bible Study and our hospice caregivers.
