Papa lived a life defined by faith, family, service, generosity, and love. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, serviceman, and friend, he faithfully served both God and his fellow man throughout his life. Blessed with a curious mind and remarkable abilities, he approached every challenge with confidence, determination, and humility. Whether solving a difficult problem, teaching a new skill, repairing something that seemed beyond repair, or offering a helping hand to someone in need, Papa shared his gifts freely and without expectation of recognition. He possessed a rare combination of intelligence and kindness that earned the respect, admiration, and affection of all who knew him.
One of Papa’s greatest joys was simply being with people. He loved gathering around a table with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, good food, card games, and countless cups of coffee. He never met a stranger and had a special gift for making others feel welcome. Although he enjoyed traveling and seeing the world, his favorite destination was always wherever his family happened to be. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Papa also expressed his love through acts of service. For decades, he crocheted beautiful blankets and quietly gave every one away. The baby blankets he lovingly created for church baptisms continue to serve as lasting reminders of his faith, generosity, and desire to comfort others.
More than anything else, Papa loved his family. His love was demonstrated not only through words, but through a lifetime of sacrifice, encouragement, wisdom, patience, and unwavering support. He showed up for life’s biggest milestones and its most ordinary moments, leaving lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the values he modeled, the faith he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives he touched. Though his absence is deeply felt, his influence remains present in the hearts of his family and friends. Papa will be remembered with gratitude, cherished with love, and missed beyond measure. What a beautiful life he lived. What a remarkable man he was.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, 227 W. Woodlawn Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212.
