Major General Thomas A. LaPlante, age 64, of San Antonio, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2002. General LaPlante graduated from the USAF Academy in 1961. He served as pilot in Vietnam, AF Headquarters in Washington DC, Directorate of Materiel Management, Air Logistics, and Acquisitions Logistics. Upon retirement from the USAF in June 1987, he worked for GE Small Motors Division in New York and Korea and Chromolloy Gas Turbine Corporation in San Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline LaPlante; sons, Thomas LaPlante, David LaPlante and wife Melissa; daughter, Laura Koonsman and husband Greg; stepdaughters, Suzanne Quintero and husband Frank; Kathleen Dickson and husband Hillman; along with 5 granddaughters, Kelsey, Darian, Claire, Macon, and Rachel; and two grandsons, Ryan and Steven.
