Thomas Tom Munroe, Jr.

Thomas "Tom" Munroe, Jr., 88, was called Home on May 16, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his adoring family. He was born on January 26, 1929 to Thomas William Munroe, Sr. and Alice Imogene Cameron in Windber, Pennsylvania. Immediately following his high school graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army for 18 months. Upon his separation from the service, he began his freshman year at Trinity University. During this year, across the campus, a beautiful young lady in her senior year, named Elizabeth Aijian, caught his attention. As she made her way up a flight of stairs, Tom knew this was his chance. He hurried through the building, ran up an opposite flight of stairs so that he may intentionally "bump" into her as he went down her stairs. This encounter would be the beginning of a beautiful relationship, leading to a marriage lasting over 64 years.

Tom will be fondly remembered as a loving husband and father, dedicated to his family.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; siblings, William Alexander Munroe, Clark Cameron Munroe, and Judy Edwards Jones; grandson, Richard "Brick" Munroe and sister-in-law, Maryann Munroe. Tom is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Elizabeth; loving children, Thomas Munroe III (Karen), Prissie Conner (Pat), and Laurie Prescott (Matt); grandchildren, Joshua Rollins, Jaalla Weir (Jason), Perry Conner (Emily), Joie Conner, Mike Conner, Thomas "Will" Munroe IV, Rachel Holmes (Jacob), Rebekah Smith (Ryan), Amy Beth Powell (Nick), Molly Mills (David), and Abigail Prescott; great-grandchildren, Jacey and Jaxon Weir, Jacoby and Emiline Holmes, Calix Smith, Zemirah Mills, and Eisley Munroe; and sister-in-law, Virginia Munroe, and brother-in-law, Bob Jones and many other extended family members.
