Thomas Daniel Overby, Jr.

Thomas Daniel Overby Jr, age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 22nd, 2023, surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on January 20, 1946, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to the late Thomas Daniel Overby Sr. and Louise Ellen Stroman.

A devout Christian, Thomas “Tom” Daniel Overby Jr. exemplified love, compassion, and unwavering faith. He was a devoted, loving husband to Estelita Saga Overby of 56 years; a loving father to Florita Albritton (James), Mary Pruitt Smith (Alphonso), Thomas Daniel Overby III, and Dr. Karen Bell; cherished grandfather to Jasmine Gonzales (Christopher), Michele Pruitt, and LeVon Pruitt; and great-grandchildren, Kiana, Avalee, Nathaniel, Bruce, Alexander, and Michael. Thomas is survived by his brother, Michael Wood; sister, Paulette Goggins; cousin, Dorothy Reed; and numerous relatives.

Thomas' community impact was profound. As a dedicated deacon at Northwest Hills Baptist Church (NWHBC), he embodied service, volunteering weekly at the San Antonio Food Bank and Meals on Wheels SA. His legacy also includes mentoring youth groups, serving over 20 years in the United States Air Force, working over 20 years for the Federal Government after the military retirement, and reflecting resilience and faith. Tom will be missed by many friends and “family” at NWHBC.

The Overby family are appreciative of the wonderful and loving care provided by the nurses and doctors at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills and Devoted Healthcare & Hospice Services. As we mourn his physical absence, we find solace in knowing that Thomas now rests in the arms of his Savior. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to inspire and guide us.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024,at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near SeaWorld).
