Thomas was the son of Thomas Harold Phillips and Amelia Durinda Wright. He was raised in the Episcopal tradition and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio, where he served as an acolyte during his youth. His connection to the church was an important part of his early life and upbringing.
Thomas graduated from Alamo Heights High School with the class of 1969. He went on to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas and later the University of Texas at Austin, continuing his education and broadening his experiences.
Throughout his life, Thomas held a variety of jobs and embraced opportunities to contribute to others. He worked in an Italian restaurant, served as a care provider, and spent a short period of time in the United States Navy. His work as a care provider reflected his willingness to help and care for others.
In his later years, Thomas was a resident of San Antonio North Nursing and Rehab, where he was cared for by the staff and became part of the community there.
He leaves behind the memory of a life uniquely his own and will be remembered by those who knew and cared for him.
