

Tillie Alba, entered eternal rest on July 30, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on February 12, 1936, to Josefina and Jeff Gamez in San Antonio, Texas, Tillie lived a full life marked by devotion to her family, community service, creativity, and joy.
Tillie married the love of her life, Margarito Alba, and together they shared 64 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tillie dedicated herself to raising her four children—Juan Alba, Norma Alba, Mario Alba, and Monica Elizondo—with boundless love and dedication. She also took special pride in her role as a grandmother to Andres, Adrianna, Charles, Christopher, Jason, Lauren, and Elizabeth, and was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.
A woman of deep community involvement, Tillie served as the Pop Warner Football treasurer and concessions coordinator, roles she held with energy and enthusiasm, supporting youth athletics and families in her neighborhood. She was an active member of the Lanier Fabulous 50’s Alumni Organization, cherishing her lifelong connections and community spirit. Her dedication extended to her children’s education as well—she proudly served as a home room mother for each of her children, year after year, grade after grade.
Tillie had a heart for nurturing and creating. She found joy in collecting recipes and preparing huge meals that brought her family together. A talented seamstress, she lovingly sewed school clothes for her children and even crafted an elegant wedding gown for her daughter. She passed this cherished skill to her granddaughter, sharing the gift of sewing across generations. Her crafts—whether handmade gifts or charity donations—were always created with love. Known for her cozy knitted blankets, Tillie made sure everyone who needed warmth had it.
She delighted in crossword puzzles, dancing at parties, and traveling across the U.S. and abroad with her beloved husband. Tillie brought light and life wherever she went, filling her days with laughter, music, and the joy of togetherness.
Tillie is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Josefina Gamez; her brother, Frank Gamez; and her sister, Terry Flores.
She is survived by her husband, Margarito; her sons, Juan Alba and Mario Alba; her daughters, Norma Alba and Monica Elizondo (Leonard); her grandchildren: Andres, Adrianna, Charles, Christopher, Jason, Lauren, and Elizabeth; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings Jeff, George, and Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory forward with love.
Tillie’s life was a testament to generosity, family, faith, and fun. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Visitation for Tillie will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237 with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Processional will depart from the funeral home at 9:20 AM for A Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 4222 SW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78227 with Burial to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
