Dawne Lee Francis

May 22, 1945 – May 19, 2025

Dawne Francis entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2025, just three days shy of her 80th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, John David Francis.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Donna (Mike), her son, Johnny (DeeAnna), her sister Ann (Chuck), and her niece Bridgette (Tony).

Dawne's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her eight grandchildren: Ashley (Michael), Katelyn, Joey, Mikey (Belinda), Shawn, Austin, Brooklyn, and Rachel. She also cherished her five great-grandchildren: Blake, Makenzie, Addisyn, Bentley, and Timmy.

A dedicated employee of the Los Angeles School District, Dawne proudly retired after more than 30 years of service. Throughout her career, she built lasting friendships with fellow staff and educators, and made a meaningful impact in the lives of countless children at the many schools she served.

Dawne lived life to the fullest. She was active in numerous social circles and clubs, including the Red Hat Society and her local Neighborhood Watch. She stayed close with friends she had known since junior high and high school, and proudly served on the planning committee for her high school Class of 1963 reunions.

Always industrious, Dawne enjoyed selling Avon and Tupperware to friends and neighbors, and her handmade dish towels were a staple in kitchens throughout the community. She rarely missed a bingo or bunco night, and was affectionately known as a surrogate grandmother to many neighborhood children.

Dawne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
