Tom Cano was born to Tomas and Basilia Cano on April 24th, 1935, in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, and his parents. He graduated from High School in 1953 then graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1957. Tom started his career with the San Antonio City Planner’s office then moved to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, retiring after 20 years of service. While working at HUD he met the love of his life, Glenda Cano. They were married on July 22, 1971.
Tom was known for being very friendly and having a big heart. He had an amazing memory and was a great storyteller. He was very proud of the large family he and Glenda raised together. He also believed that the successful family and careers he and Glenda enjoyed were due to two things: the blessings of the Lord and hard work.
Tom is survived by eight children: Nanette Dannheim, Roseanne Williams, Anthony Cano, Tammy Brown, John Cano, Brent Cook, Chris Cano, and Mark Cano, along with eleven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Interment will occur the same day at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, with a reception following at Porter Loring Mortuary North from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
