

Tom Rowan, age 72, of San Antonio, died on Saturday, September 21, 2002. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Texas in Austin, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. During the Korean War, he served on a carrier with the U.S. Navy. He was the owner of Rowan Lumber Company in Karnes City, TX and Rowan Home Center in Victoria, TX, and on the Board of the Texas Lumbermen Association. He was a residential and commercial builder for 30 years. Most recently he was self-employed as a commercial real estate broker. Tom was an avid tennis player. Ed Rowan, his son, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Sue Rowan; children, Fran Walter and Susan Rowan; grandchildren, Leigh Rowan, Chase Rowan, Ed Walter, Ethan Walter and Allison Walter; and brother, Jack Rowan.
