It’s hard to name all of the beautiful memories of Troy, as we have been friends for 48 years now. We met in elementary school, where legend has it, that I gave Troy his first black eye when he introduced himself. I always laugh at his version of the story because that’s not exactly how it happened. Troy being the jokester that he was, proceeded to tease me about having a boy’s name. After I had enough tormenting, THEN he was given a black eye. I am thankful for that day, because a beautiful friendship was born between Troy and I, as well as our entire family. We became inseparable! Troy was funny, kind and adventurous. We spent many of weekends at the motorcycle track, or chasing miscellaneous critters around the neighborhood. I also discovered what am amazing protector Troy was. I never had to worry about being bullied, because Troy was also there to take care of me. I will forever remember Troy, as the most wonderful friend. I am blessed to have known him and be part of his life. He and his beautiful family have been much more than friends, they are an extension of my family. I had the honor of being with Troy last week as he left this world. My heart is broken over his passing, but I know he is soaring high in a beautiful place, and we will meet up again, over the rainbow bridge. I love you, Troy!!!!❤️

Back in the day (we were in High School), Troy’s charisma allowed him to collect an odd assortment of friends. I was glad to be among them. Years later (and many years ago) I took my father to breakfast at an IHOP, and Troy was there. His quick wit and welcoming presence were a great gift to us all.

For Troy’s family: You are all in my prayers. As you grieve this terrible loss, please know that Troy’s life had a great impact on many others. He will be missed.

I am stunned by this news! I was just thinking about him the other day as I drove by his family’s old house on Vance Jackson and Dreamland. I loved that house! Indeed, he was a character and one in a million personality! I have so many memories of him as he and I were on the high school debate team. He was one of Bruce Logan’s favorite. Bruce and Troy would have detailed discussions about the most current of events. Troy had an impressive knowledge of world history much less of the Civil War. I remember when his sons were born and now they look like men. My warmest regards to his mother, Mary! -Gone Too Soon - Your friend, Billy De Los Santos

Troy Hooker was the most handsome, intelligent young man, who filled us with laughter and love. His family, my dear friends Mary and Gene Hooker, spent many great years together with us, living life and enjoying our favorite causes-- Trinity Tennis, and hanging out at Retama Tennis Center, to name a few.
My heart is with Mary and Todd.

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Troy.
We worked together for several years and it was a delight having him so close every day.
His stories and his wit made our work time go by quickly and all of the customers enjoyed him.
Troy was always a friend to me and always lent an open heart and ear for my stories.
He was a wonderful dancer too.
I know he is in a better place talking telling stories, gardening, tending to the bees and loving life and I am happy for that.
As the Greeks would say; may we all live long to continue to remember the lovely friend brother and father we knew in Troy.
