

Master Chief Hospital Corpsman (Ret) Clarence Hodges hailed from Troy, Alabama. He enlisted in the United States Navy and completed Basic at Recruit Training Center, San Diego, California in 1982.
Master Chief Hodges (Ret) served his country with distinction for 27 years and 10 months.
Ashore and overseas, he served at Naval Hospital Beaufort, Beaufort, South Carolina; Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Florida; Naval Hospital Corpus Christi, Texas; Naval Hospital Roosevelt Roads, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico; Naval School of Health Science, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Branch Health Clinic Kingsville, Texas and Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, Texas.
On the green side, Master Chief Hodges served with 2nd Marine Corps Division, 2nd Marines, 6th Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, 1 Marines Expeditionary Force, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Camp Pendleton, California, and 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit Combat Element Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Master Chief Hodges' (Ret) last assignment was Command Master Chief, mentoring 223 sailors at Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, Texas.
His personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4).
Master Chief Hodges (Ret) has also earned numerous campaign and unit awards including the Combat Action Medal.
Master Chief Hodges (Ret) earned his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College of Missouri and a Master's Degree from Webster University in Human Resources Development, 2005. He was employed by the Medical Education and Training Campus, Fort Sam Houston as a Management Analyst/Human Resource Officer.
Master Chief Hodges (Ret) was married to the former Navy Chief Petty Officer (Ret) Lorna Hassang. They have six children, Terilyn, Laticia, Nikole, Sharese, Latrese, and Asia; two grandsons, Mykhail and Ayven; and two granddaughters, Avery and Kamari.
His parents, Mack and Ethel Hodges preceded him in death. He has two sisters, Eula M. Colbert, Dorothy Hodges; and six brothers, William Wright, Selma Lee Kimble, Mack Hodges, Spencer Hodges, Anthony Hodges, Otis Hodges.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, February 3, 2013, and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday, February 4, 2103, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
