Verna Pearl Thompson went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mamie Hemmer of East St. Louis, Illinois. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John E. Thompson, Jr.; her children Jack Thompson (Sue Thompson), Scott Thompson (Pamela Thompson), Craig Thompson (Holly Thompson), and Lisa Magnusson (Brett Magnusson). She was loved dearly by her 15 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Verna was an active member at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church were she had served the Lord in many different capacities and roles. Viewing will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23 at 10:00 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Private interment services will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
