Vicente Vigil, a man who found peace in nature and joy in the company of animals, entered into his eternal rest in Our Lord on September 13, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born in Seguin, Texas on July 19, 1936 to Elena Segovia and Antonio Vigil.
Vicente lived a life full of simple pleasures, always embracing his love for the outdoors, music, and family. An avid guitar player, Vicente enjoyed strumming tunes and spending time outdoors, fishing and cooking out with family and friends. His true happiness, however, came from life on the ranch, where he was surrounded by his beloved animals. Vicente had a special bond with each of them, from his horses, goats, and donkeys to his cherished pot-bellied pig, Kuka, who was thoroughly spoiled under his care. Among his animals, his donkey Eddie and his three spoiled dogs also held a special place in his heart. Every day, he would feed them, and they would eagerly rush to him when he called their names.
One of the most cherished memories of Vicente involved his dog, Nancy. He could often be heard calling out for her across the ranch, with a voice full of urgency that brought smiles to those nearby. It became a family joke, teasing that the neighbors might think he was calling for a wife or girlfriend, rather than his beloved dog. This lighthearted moment captured his playful spirit and deep affection for his animals.
Vicente will be reunited in heaven with his wife, Anita Vigil; parents, Elena and Antonio Vigil; and siblings, Antonio Jr., Eliseo, Delfina, and Lupe.
He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his children, Rosemary Vivier (Rudy), Frank (Mary), Roy, Ramiro (Janie), and Vicente Jr. (Linda). Grandchildren, Frank, Donna, Ramiro Jr., Joseph, Adam, Vicente III, Anthony, Anita, Maria, Cody, Caleb, Roseann, and Roxanne; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; his siblings; Hildo, Maria Elena, and Rudy Vigil, also along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Vicente’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and animals. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him, but his memory will live on in the simple joys he brought to their lives
