Mommy, I remember you loved to sit outside on the back porch. I would hear you laughing on the phone with my cousin Christina from the garage. You always had your nails painted. Your make up was always perfect. You like to wear a lot. I remember you would always let me skip school and stay at home with you. I would follow you around the house and asking you questions and talk to you about everything. I could tell you anything. I remember you never yelled at me, except once when you said, "what!" after I was screaming and crying on my bed at around 7 years old for no reason haha. I just wanted attention. That was it. You were always so kind to me and my sisters. You never scolded me, not once. You bought me anything I wanted and dressed me well. You would do anything for me. You taught me how to pick fabric for a quilt. The last quilt you made was for me. We picked the fabric together. I love you mommy. I will see you very soon. In about 70 years. It will come before I know it. You're my angel.

Just wanted to say that I miss and love you and have so much to tell you.. I have been doing hair for 4 years now and I love it I remeber doing your hair all the time when you were sick. Hope you have a great night just wanted you to know that Im thinking about you alll the time and wishing you where back in my arms as a mother. I love you your daughter always Jessica

Late Summer of '74: you were 17 & I was 21. You were in Anchorage, Alaska & I was in Cincinnati, Ohio. You were born in Gilroy, California & I was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky. As far as I know we didn't have a thing in common. Then I met your Uncle Wendell. He was "from California, had never been married, didn't have any children, and lived with your grandparents, Lina Fannin Elliott and Henry Castle Elliott." Then I met your grandparents. When Mrs. Elliott asked I told her I was just like Wendell: "never been married, didn't have any children, and lived by myself in an apartment I had rented with the hope my mother would be able to come and live with me." Mrs. Elliott apparently told him to tell me about his children. He told me about your cousins Lina and Gwen and I asked to see a photo. He showed me a photo of three children Wendell, Jr.. A few days later your Uncles Wincel "Wes," Henry "Hank,"& Wendell Sr. and I were talking about your great-grandmother Emma and Wendell said his youngest was named for her. I had to see all the photos in "his album" and I saw several of you. He spoke with pride of his sister Lorene's daughters Doreen and Vicky and his pride was justified. For 29 almost 30 years I have known about you, known you, lost track of you, found you. We walked some miles breaking my feet in for the US Army and walked through some doors together: apartments, bars, clinics, dance halls, libraries the first law library I ever entered, ranch house kitchens you made my first jalapenos & eggs, and stable doors. Now you have walked through the door into eternity without me; but just as I will follow you through other doors in this life I will follow you through this door. I hope and pray Lorene, Jeff, Doreen, your brothers, husband, children and loving family find some peace and comfort in remembering you are not alone: whatever else eternity holds, it holds those who have gone before. I can almost hear Mrs. Elliott telling you how pretty the quilts you made were.
