Semper Fi, to my cousin Victor: I always looked up to you. When I was in high school and wanted to go to Oregon. I had messed up. You took me and my buddy Rich to the recruiting office. I wish I would hav listened to your advice and enlisted. I never forgot our road trip to Alabama, and Mississippi, New Orleans and the Mardi Gras for my 21 birthday. I used to brag to my football buddies about my cousin Victor. US marine , Master Sgt.

I’m grateful to have had great moments and a lifetime of memories with my brother just like so many of you do, but I must admit we had our ups and downs, we argued, we disagreed in everything from politics, religion, money and current events just to name a few but after a few days or sometimes longer of cooling off (me for sure) he always came back to embrace me as though nothing ever happened, thank you Victor for showing me un-conditional love.  Yes, brother you showed me Un-conditional love and I only wish I had told you so.  We were both able to see pass all our flaws and we both understood we didn’t come from a perfect home but it didn’t stop us from remembering where we came from nor did it stop us from searching a better life for our families. 
Thanks for being there for my family and thanks for my Son and I’s Marine Corps Boot Camp graduations, for my Son in 2003 and mine in 1975, thanks for the support you gave us as young Marines.  Simper Fi (always faithful to the Corps) says everything about you.
I’ll miss picking up the phone and calling you, I’ll miss stopping by to visit you whenever I’m driving through San Antonio, I’ll miss having a cold beer with you too. 
What I won’t miss, what I won’t miss is you telling jokes, because honestly Brother, you repeated those same jokes so many times that now all I have to do is close my eyes and I can hear you telling them.

I remember his stories his smile and his funny humor. Will always hear him telling me how Men knew not to enter a ladies bathroom at any restaurant because it reads “wo-man” in a way that would tell a man to not enter.   I loved seeing him again and running with him in the Bourban race. I will treasure him always. My heart is with my aunt and my cousins. I love you Tio.

Our sincerest condolences to Hazel and the rest of the Arriola family.  Victor had a carefree spirit that allowed him to enjoy his life, his passion for his work, his family and Hazel whom he spoke of very fondly.  We will always remember the cookouts ,the cold drinks , and the back and forth banter over the fence when Victor would visit mom and dad , then eventually just mom.  Thanks for the memories Victor.  Rest in peace.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of 46 years, Hazel; his son, Victor (Mary) Arriola II; his daughter, Felicia Steele, his grandchildren, Duncan Steele, Maria Steele, Eva Arriola, Emma Arriola, and Evlyn Arriola, his siblings Maria Margarita (Kenny) Pierson, Pedro (Josefina) Arriola, Aurora (William) Morse, Maria Gloria (Juan) Mendoza, Teresita (Larry) O’Leary, Cecilia (Lawrence) Schroder, Francisco (Maria) Arriola, and Jose (Cynthia) Arriola and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.  Victor was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister, Dolores Gonzalez.
