My deepest condolences to the Fernandez family.   May the good lord watch over ya during this trying time.  I had the pleasure of working with CSM Fernandez in Afghanistan.  He was full of wisdom, knowledge, and experience.  Was one of the greatest leaders I’ve ever met.  He will truly be missed

To my cousin Victor my pleasant memories is when we were younger and you would come and spend time with my mother and we would take care of you and your other siblings for a couple of days it was a Wonderful childhood I would take you to the church where I was a leader and everybody adored you and you would hang on to me and when it was time for your mother and your dad to pick you up you didn't want to leave you held on to me you said you didn't want to leave I said I'll see you soon it was sad to hear but you're in a better place no pain your family have my deepest condolences I won't say bye I'll just say I'll see you later

I remember asking him why there were so many people falling out of a run. 

His next words directed me to grow rapidly,

“Don’t worry about them, look forward and keep going.”

I kept going and still am. I will miss him and think about him often. What a great man he was.
