Victor Manuel Larrumbide

He spent the last six years of his life fighting pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal illness. He fought courageously until he was called to eternal rest by the Lord.

Vic was born in San Antonio on Sept. 19, 1929 to Donaciano Larrumbide and Julia Contreras. F.S. Herrera was his devoted step-father.

A month after his seventeenth birthday Vic enlisted in the Army and transferred to the Army Air Force. After a three year tour of duty including two years service in Japan he was honorably discharged with a rank of Staff Sergeant. At one point in time Victor was one of four brothers serving in the Armed Forces. Upon returning home he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve and began college work at St. Mary's University.

Vic received a B.S. degree in Engineering from what is now Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He retired from Lone Star Gas Company/Ensearch Corporation in Dallas after 37 years of service. Vic was a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas with a discipline in Petroleum Engineering.

He held an Honorary Life Membership in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of St. Brigid's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Larrumbide; his daughter, Monica Trimble and husband, Brett Trimble; and three grandchildren, Russell Jr., Brandon and wife, Briseida, and Leslie VanRavenswaay; brother, Richard Larrumbide and Amadita; sister, Alice and husband, Roy Montez; brother, Nano Tex and wife, Ruthie Herrera; and sister-in-law, Joan Larrumbide. He is also survived by step-son, Justin and wife, Dana Steinhauer and step-children Sarah and Stephanie.

Victor was preceded in death by wife, Tillie; daughter, Julia; and brother, Gilbert Larrumbide. Victor was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
