He was born in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas Mexico on April 5, 1924 to Delfina Huerta and Luis Wong Luitin. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lioncio and his sister Gloria. Grieving his passing are his sister Chela, nephew Lioncio Luitin and family, his daughter Olga Luitin Garcia, son in law Victor Garcia, grandchildren Karina Garcia and Krysta Stout, great-grandson Ryan Stout and extended family.
Victor had a long life with many colorful experiences. He started work young and, after time in the Mexican military, tried various trades, from fisherman, to cook and even private detective. After winning a large lottery jackpot, he traveled extensively throughout Mexico with his family and then started a business in Ciudad Madero. Hurricanes and flooding ended that dream and he eventually immigrated to the United States to join his wife and young son, Luis. Eventually the family grew to include: San Juana Guadalupe, Olga Victoria, Maria Consuelo, Rosa Delfina, and Marta Alicia. In the United States he worked in construction, at first coming home with bleeding hands and sunburns. As with everything, he was positive about his construction work often reminiscing about participating in the building of the Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center back when the location was in the outskirts of town and many other buildings in San Antonio such as Ft. Sam Houston barracks, Nix Hospital, and remodeling work at San Fernando Cathedral.
He lived with his daughter Olga for the last 29 years after his house burned down, even joining her family in Okinawa, Japan and Washington, DC. He helped his daughter and son-in-law raise Karina and Krysta, even teaching them to hula-hoop. He always remembered all his children with love and visited his sisters and nieces and nephews in Mexico often.
Victor was a humble, hardworking man all his life, always ready to help anyone, anywhere. He leaves this legacy of service for his family to carry on along with many happy memories. We love you Papi.
His family would like to thank all his health providers and their staff throughout the last years. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2013 for a 10:00 A.M. mass at St. Jude Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
