It is with much sadness and broken hearts that we share the great loss of our amazing, beautiful, and very loved mother, Victoria Gonzales, who passed away peacefully at her home on January 26, 2023, after living a lifetime of 98 humbling years. She was born on July 13, 1924, to Jesus and Petra Rodriguez in Floresville, Texas.
Our mother kept a garden of the heart that gave life to 9 children, 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren with a total of four generations of her life. We are our mother's garden, and we are her legacy for she was our sunshine of life with a constant example of goodness, guidance, and infinite wealth of advice with much endless love to share with so many of us. We will keep in our hearts many precious memories of her. No one can replace our moms as we all have our very special ones, but we can say the Lord gave us one of his very best.
Our mom had a strong and deep devotion to our Our Lady of Guadalupe, our blessed Mother. From the time one stepped on to her front porch Our Lady was there and as you entered her house her statue/picture was in every room. She would often talk of our Lady's presence accompanied by baby angels. This deep devotion and faith in Our Lord are where she drew her strength from in her daily prayers. Mom was a wonderful mother blessed with many gifts – a homemaker with many talents from quilting and growing beautiful flowers that amazed people not to mention a seamstress and a great cook. We learned so much from her as we pass all these traditions to our own children. She was a hard worker that would take on any challenge that came her way. We had a hard time keeping up with her. She had a style for dressing up and wearing her bling-bling to the very end.
We find comfort as we know she is in our Lord's arms where she now finds much peace. Comfort for us to know she is with our dad and brothers to take over her care.
Our Mom, our foundation, and as our dad would say “Our Queen.” Broken hearts left behind until we meet again.
She is preceded in death by her parents, our dad Maurilio Gonzales, sons Maurilio Jr., and Julio Gonzales, sons-in-law Gilbert Noriega and Roy Lopez, brothers Daniel, Antonio, Alfredo, and Luis Rodriguez, and sisters Elena Salazar and Tomasa Saenz. She is survived by her partner, Gilbert Soza, daughters Rose Noriega, Stella (Richard) Garza, Janie (Dwight) Childs, Vicky Lopez, and Linda (Paul) Valle and sons Johnny Gonzales (Sandra), Ernesto Gonzales, daughter-in-law Diane, her brother Raphael, 71 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
We are thankful for Lupita as the provider for helping our mom with her care.
