Born into a family steeped in kindness and generosity, our beloved mother grew from humble beginnings into a nurturing presence defined by compassion and a strong faith in God. Her childhood was filled with laughter, learning, and the support of strong family bonds, experiences that later guided her in motherhood with empathy, resilience, and grace.
Victoria was born on June 19, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, to Dr. Roberto and Victoria Pedraza. She graduated with honors from the Lydia Patterson Institute in 1964. After dedicating several years to raising her two daughters, she pursued further education at San Antonio Community College obtaining an associate degree in Business Administration/Accounting. She went on to build a distinguished 33-year career at the San Antonio State Chest Hospital, retiring as Financial Officer in the accounting department.
Following her retirement, Victoria, never one to sit idle, returned to work for the past two years at the Alamo Area Council of Governments, where she was able to contribute her expertise and continue to stay engaged, driven by her boundless curiosity and work ethic.
Victoria’s greatest joy was her family. She dedicated her life to caring for and supporting her children and grandchildren, always ensuring that those she loved were well taken care of. She cherished every moment spent with her daughters and grandchildren and found happiness in family gatherings and travel.
Her deep faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. Victoria was a dedicated and devout member of Northern Hills United Methodist Church, where she poured her heart into her service and love for the church. Her faith not only guided her but also inspired those around her to live with compassion, kindness, and integrity.
Neighbors recall her as the one who showed up first in times of need, whose generosity and empathy quietly transformed lives, and whose faith in the goodness of people inspired others to give back.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Esparza Gregory and husband Danny Gregory, and Maria Elena Holley; her grandchildren, Carlos Gregory, Jonah Gregory, Zarek Holley, and Kristen Gregory; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Roberto and Victoria Pedraza, and her brothers, Roberto Pedraza Jr., Solomon Pedraza, Daniel Pedraza, David Pedraza, and Paul Pedraza.
As we say goodbye, let us remember the profound blessing of having been loved by such an extraordinary mother. Let us carry forward her values, cherish her memory, and honor her by living with the same generosity and open heartedness she showed each day. May we honor her by living with kindness, strength, and purpose.
