

Born on February 21, 1929, in Richland Springs Texas, to William and Annie Lauderdale. Virdie grew up in San Antonio, where she met her future husband, Herb Carroll, while attending Jefferson High School.
Together, they built a life centered around family, and adventure. As a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell, Virdie started her career in McAllen, Texas, before moving to their beloved home on HWY 35, in Selma Texas where they raised four children and nurtured their passion for horses and gardening. Virdie was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Sheriff's Posse, riding in numerous events including the prestigious Battle of Flowers Parade during Fiesta.
Throughout her life, Virdie was known for her unwavering support for her loved ones, often cheering them on at rodeos, livestock shows, and sporting events. Her legacy will be cherished by her family and friends who will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and devotion.
Preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Hecox and Husband Glen.
Virdie is survived by her children Bradley and Annette Carroll, Beth Zwickie, Wesley Carroll, along with cherished grandchildren Ryan, Ross, Regan, Brent, Zachry, Justin, Zane, Tori, Hilary, Tyler, Weston. Great grandchildren Brooke, Reide, Kylie, Kelsie, Drew, Oaklyn, Conner, Owen, Aubrey, Brantley and Brooks.
