Virginia M. Diaz born on February 27, 1927 in Monterrey, MX went to be with our Lord on July 13, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Diaz. She is survived by her daughters; Maria Cortez, Vicky Rizzo (Jerry), Enriqueta DeLong (Earl), and Elvia Diaz (Manuel Lopez); grandchildren; Marisa, Rolando, Vince, Angela, Stanley, Alejandro, Sofia, Natalia, and Santiago; great grandchildren; Jessica, Joel, and Christopher; sisters; Petra Ortiz and Luisa Casares. Our beloved Mother passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with her family by her side. To her children she set a wonderful example of how life in its many faceted challenges ought to be confronted. With minimum training and limited education she was able to overcome obstacles to provide for her family beyond normal standards. In doing so, she instilled in each member of her family the necessary work ethics and the qualities so indispensable for success in a country whose language was different from her own. Like a good wife, she understood the economics of the household and was able to apply those skills to a venture in business which proved to be fruitful for her and her growing family. Still, she was driven by an unquenchable desire to become a part of the very community which sustained her. She studied diligently and obtained a United States citizenship, fulfilling her opportunity to become a part of the American Dream. Time passed and circumstances changed gradually for our beloved Mom and slowly she settled into a comfortable and nourishing existence. At her home she helped raise her daughters’ children until it became necessary for her children to intervene in order to provide for her in return for the many gifts of life they had received from their Mom: Virginia Morales Diaz. May God bless her and keep her. Family and friends will be received from 5:00 pm. To 9:00 p.m. Tuesday July 23, 2013 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
