Virginia R. Galvan

On February 1, 2021, the doors of heaven opened up to welcome Virginia Reyes Galvan, affectionately known as “Veve”. A loving mother, nana, sister, grandma and aunt has earned her wings.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luciano and Donicia Reyes; her beloved husband, Carlos Galvan; her son, Sergio R. Galvan; her siblings, Albert Reyes and Sylvia Reyes; and other loving family members who now join her.

She is survived by her children, Mary A. Galvan-Garza (Roger) and Rasiel A. Galvan (Lucinda); her grandchildren, Roger Garza Jr., Alexandria Galvan, Donatela Galvan, Michael and Matthew Davila, Sereena Galvan and Sergio Galvan Jr.; her siblings, Herlinda Machado of Arizona, Dolores Reyes of Castroville, Texas and Carlos Reyes in La Coste, Texas; her compadres, Everett and Connie Long; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and family here in San Antonio and in the Valley.

She will be sorely missed by her family, who was kept united with her beautiful spirit and cooking.

Due to restrictions on public gatherings, the Visitation at Funeraria del Angel Trevino - 226 Cupples Road 78237 - will be limited to 50 people in the building at a time. Face Coverings are required to be worn.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, February 25th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Friday, February 26th, a Procession will depart at 9:30 AM to arrive at St. Jude Catholic Church – 130 South San Augustine Avenue 78237 – for a Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II – 746 Castroville Road 78237.

Our dearest Peeps. As our family called her. She was such a precious cousin, and I loved her so as did my Mijo. Too many great times to count when she was at my house, made numerous meals in my kitchen with love. And extended Family would gather around the table, enjoying her cooking. I will forever cherish these in my heart my dear Peeps. And remember our great times together. Too many to write about. Mari, Mando and Family I am so SORRY for your Tremendous loss. She is flying high with the Angels.

Because of you I was able to receive my sacrament of my first communion. I remember you taking me to get my dress and telling me bird (is what you called me) pick the one you like. I have so many childhood memories.. from being able to play Atari , smurf cereal and ice cups. May Perpetual light shine on you. Thank you for all that you did for our family. Fly high my Godmother.

Virginia was a beautiful loving person inside and out. She was a caregiver to my children when they were babies. She was known as “Nanny “. She loved them and they loved her so much that they always wanted to stay with her instead of coming home with me after work. I felt good in my heart because I knew she was taking good care of Megan and Zachary. I appreciated her for that. May she Rest In Peace with her loved ones.

Tia Veve, to this day I can hear you call me by my nickname. You were the one that got me hooked on Purisa. I remember the visits to AZ. As I got older we didn't visit much but mom, your ugly sister(LOL) would always keep me updated on how you were. Will always keep you in my heart and will always love you. You are our guardian angel. You are now at peace without pain. Prayers to all the family. Hugs and kisses.

Aunt VEVE, I loved you so! I will always remember the days we would sit at the kitchen table in Castroville and talk with Granny and laugh so much. You were always sneaking sweets! Your sister would get on to you saying you shouldn't have it and we would laugh. "Thata way you learn!!" will be in my brain forever. Weekend sleepovers and Sunday mornings in Castroville were definitely some of my favorite times. I also loved going places with you, Aunt Linda, and Granny. Always a hoot! You taught me how to make my own tortillas! I will never forget you! Xoxo How blessed we are to have you now as an angel to watch over us. Sending all of our love to your children. May you rest in peace.
