Virginia R. Sanchez, age 86, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in San Antonio. She was born in San Antonio to parents Pedro and Anastacia (Martinez) Ramirez. Once out of school, Virginia worked at a local bakery, honing her skills. On the advice of a friend, she applied to the Lancer Company, where she was trained to be a sonic welder. Virginia worked at Lancer for over 20 years. Always good with her hands, she loved to bake, cook (she was known for the way she cooked her beans) and ceramics. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Virginia was happiest taking care of her family, being a Mom and a wonderful Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Joe R. Sanchez. Virginia is survived by her daughter Jessica and husband, Gordon; grandson, Kenneth Carrillo, Jr.; brother Roger Ramirez; sister Gloria Mendez and her husband Peter, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
