Virginia Davis (Gina) Schneider

Virginia Davis Schneider (Gina) passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the age of 81. Gina is survived by Joseph Robert Schneider (Bob), her loving and devoted husband of 61 years. She was raised in Oakville and graduated from George West High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart and they raised their family in George West.

She was very active in the community and was a pillar at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Her family and friends were always the most important priority in her life, and she loved nothing more than caring for them. Her home was always open and ready to welcome anyone in need of food, company, or a place to rest. A source of quiet strength, wisdom, and perseverance for all who knew her, she was a second mother to many. She was artistic and created clay replicas of churches, missions, saints, nativities, and more which many still love and cherish.

She and Bob loved to travel, especially through the Southwest. They moved to San Antonio in 2007 to be near children and grandchildren.

Gina is also survived by her children, Kelly Conkling and Allan from Helotes, Rob Schneider and Wendy from Driftwood, and Stacy Dowdy and Gene of Boerne; grandchildren, Sara Little (Chris), Emily Olson (Matthew), Davis and Thad Schneider, Jessica and Rachel Dowdy; her sisters, Beverly (Fred) Kapelle of Kerrville, Marion (Chuck) Sehlke of George West, and Patti Huehn of San Antonio; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 on Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1416 N Loop 1604 in San Antonio. A graveside service will be at the George West Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in George West, St. Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
