Virginia graduated from St. Stanislaus Kostka High School and completed a vocational Business program. She retained her strengths in Latin from Catholic school - so much that she easily tutored her children and grandchildren in their coursework.
Virginia was a devoted mother who cared deeply for her family and worked tirelessly to create a loving and supportive home. Throughout her growing family's formative years, she remained a steady presence. Virginia's unwavering love of family was further demonstrated by her attention to the health and well-being of her parents.
Once her children entered high school, Virginia worked outside the home, serving her community with the same abounding energy. She joined the Niles Public Library in the Chicago suburbs, where she was placed in charge of the bookmobile. For 21 years, she brought library services to areas without access, serving both young children and elderly residents in nursing homes with dedication and warmth.
After retirement and the loss of her husband, Virginia moved to Texas to care for her grandchildren. Always with patience, love and abounding wit, she ensured the academic success of Matt, Annie, and Theresa, and instilled enduring skills and unshakeable values.
Virginia was dearly loved by friends and neighbors in Mission Ridge, where she lived for 28 years. Many continued to visit her in assisted living and later in the nursing home. Her family is deeply grateful for the years of love and care shown to her by Lynn Thompson, Jeanne Koos & family.
Virginia's family also appreciate the exceptional care provided by Dr. Mark Prange, the Seraphic Sisters of St. Francis, and the nurses and CNAs of St. Francis Nursing Home. May God continue to bless them in every way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Hillard Anthony Zyman, and her sisters Eleanore Soberalski and Evelyn Soltes.
Virginia is survived by her son, Hillard Zyman; daughter, Pamela New; grandchildren, Matthew New, Anneliese New, and Theresa New Casanova; great grandchildren, Holly, Connor, and Mason Casanova; nieces, Joann Jones and family, and Carol Hegland and family; along with extended family and loving friends who will all greatly miss her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 20523 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78258.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Nursing Home.
