Wally graduated from the American High School in Cairo, Egypt and The University of Texas at Austin with a major in Business Administration.
After serving in the Air Force, Wally moved to San Antonio where he worked for Longhorn Cement and its successors until his retirement.
Active in his community, Wally was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry, and recently joined St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Conopus Club, The Order of the Alamo, San Antonio German Club, as well as the Argyle and the San Antonio Country Club.
His love of the outdoors and gardening resulted in a passionate commitment to the San Antonio Botanical Garden where he initiated the ever so popular Plant Sale project and served as President of the Botanical Society.
He served on the YMCA board, another of his passions. He was fortunate to have many wonderful friends with whom he spent memorable moments hunting and fishing, as well as hiking in the Big Bend National Park.
Embracing life with a kind heart and sweet smile, he will be remembered for his love of his wife, six children and sixteen grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all of us.
