

Walter Walthall III entered into glory Wednesday, April 19, 2023. He was born March 14th, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, to Alice Ruth and Dr. Walter Walthall, Jr. He was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School and Trinity University where he received a Bachelors degree in biology and a Master’s in Hospital Administration. It was at Trinity where he met his wife, Carolyn Krebs. Their 55 years of marriage were filled with laughter and warm memories, especially of those spent in Port Aransas at the family beach house. He was an expert fisherman, sandcastle builder, seashell hunter, and kite flyer. A proud Vietnam veteran, he served his country in the army medical service corps. His passions were family, hunting, gardening, tennis, and golf. Walter was a life-long UT fan and over the years enjoyed membership the San Antonio Country Club, German Club, and the Order of the Alamo.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his three children and their families: Dr. Walter Walthall IV and his wife Julie, Laura Cotter and her husband Tim, and Ellen Nicholas and her husband Andrew. Bringing much joy to the family are grandchildren Abigail and Grace Walthall, Carrie, Eli, and Will Cotter, and Ali and AJ Nicholas.
Preceding him in death are his parents and sister Sally Walthall Cribbs.
